a lot of fights and the story gets dragged out with nothing happening. now you'd say "but thats God of War" and ive played the past games, but this one was billed out as more cinematic and story driven. i think even in the previous games (like 1 and 2) there was more of a "push" in the story in terms of motivation from location to location.
Action games like God of War 4 or Spider-Man simply don't compare to something like Dark Souls 3 or DMCV. If you want a good story, there's several high-quality smaller games and indies every year that will tell you a more interesting story than The Road, But Worse.
Basically when the game starts, combat feels slow and boring because first of all, your Kratos is still weak and you havnt unlocked like of the moves that are in the game, And a good saying that the legendary PewDiePie once said was, 90% of the time, a game bores someone if that person isnt good at it, but i promise you, once you master GOW combat and unlock all skills, the game flashes out

I loved Arkham knight most, it's the best one (disclaimer arkham City has a better story) and most immersive with how they made Gotham. Check also FF7 Remake and FF16. If God of war is 10/10 FF7 Remake is a 9/10.
